Background: This fig was found in California and is possibly a hybrid of ficus carica and ficus palmata. It produces small figs that are reported to have a Cherry-like flavor. The shape of the figs is somewhat distinctive as they are small, roundish, and have a long stem (peduncle). Although it is reported to have ripened successfully without pollination, I had a lot of problems with this variety dropping figs on the east coast. I suspect it is most suitable for California.

Background: This was a wild fig found in California and marketed by SacredOrigin. It is reported to have a very good flavor in California when caprified. Although it has been reported to be common, I suspect it is likely a smyrna variety.

Background: This fig was found the southeastern United States and was named Colonel Littman's Black Cross. It is a Black Madeira-type fig with a complex berry flavor. I personally thought that it didn't have as many splitting problems as Black Madeira though, and this has been reported by other growers as well, making it more suitable for east coast growers than some of the other Black Madeira-types.
