Early Beauty is a new variety of early-maturing black yangmei bred from the Biqi yangmei garden in Lanxi, Zhejiang Province using bud mutation. After years of cultivation and observation, it has been confirmed as a forest variety. Since 2006, Lanxi has developed this variety through seedling breeding and high-grafting replacement. In September 2013, it was approved and named by the Zhejiang Provincial Forest Variety Approval Committee. The fruit of this variety is nearly spherical, with a bright purple-black fruit surface and uniform coloring. The fruit stalk is yellow-green in color, the flesh is hard, and the flavor is strong. The average single fruit weight is 12.5 g, the fruit shape index is 0.96, the edible rate is 95.7%, the soluble solids content is 11.4%, the total sugar content is 10.3%, the total acid content is 1.17%, the citric acid content is 1.08%, and the vitamin C content is 21.7 mg·kg-1, with medium to high quality.

Early Beauty has a moderate growth and dwarfed tree body. It matures in Lanxi in late May and early June, 15 days earlier than Dongkui and more than 5 days earlier than Black Carbon. Early Beauty has large fruits and matures early, has good fruiting performance, stable yield, high resistance to wilt disease, and excellent quality. 

This variety was bred by Cixi Yangmei Research Institute and Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences Horticulture. It is a seedling early-maturing variant of Biqi and was named by the famous expert Mr. Wu Gengmin. The fruit of this variety is oblate, with a single fruit weight of about 10 grams and uniform size. When fully ripe, the fruit is dark purple-red, with a soluble solid content of 12.4%, an acid content of 1.26%, and an edible rate of 93.1%. It is moderately sweet and sour and has excellent quality. It matures in early to mid-June in Cixi, its place of origin, about 10 days earlier than Biqi, and is currently one of the earliest-maturing fine varieties. 

 Among the early-maturing varieties, it is a large fruit variety. The fruit is spherical and dark red. The single fruit weighs 13 grams, and the soluble solids are about 12%. The fruit stalk is small, the flesh is club-shaped, the flesh is slightly coarse, juicy, and of high quality. 

 An excellent early-maturing yangmei variety. When mature, the fruit surface is purple-red, the flesh is dense, the texture is hard, the taste is moderately sour and sweet, and the quality is excellent. The single fruit weighs 15.7g, the maximum fruit weighs 18.4g, and contains 11.0% soluble solids. It matures from early June to mid-July. 

The average fruit weight is around 20 grams. The flesh is soft and juicy, with a sweet and sour flavor. In its place of origin, it matures in mid to late April. It is currently one of the earliest maturing, medium-to-large fruit bayberry varieties being developed for economic cultivation. 

This variety has a strong growth habit, with a semi-spreading, flat-round crown shape. The male and female flowers can appear on the same branch, the same inflorescence, or different branches. It is highly productive and early-bearing. The fruit has a long stem and turns purplish-black when ripe. The average fruit weight is around 16 grams, with larger fruits weighing between 20-30 grams. The flesh is soft and juicy, with a sweet and sour flavor. In its place of origin, it matures in mid to late April. It is currently one of the earliest maturing, medium-to-large fruit bayberry varieties being developed for economic cultivation, with good market prospects. 

This is a female Yangmei from the grower Marta in Northern California.  She describes Eve as a mid-to-late season producing female with complex flavored and very juicy fruits.  A new variety of very early-maturing yangmei bred in Fujian, it begins to mature at the end of April and bears fruit in early May. In Yunnan and Guangxi, it matures about a month earlier.  The single fruit weight is 9.8~11.5 grams, the soluble solids are 10.5%~12.0%, the flesh is delicate and juicy, the flavor is sweet and delicious, the nuclear weight is 0.58~0.61 grams, and the edible rate is 93.5%~94.5%, which is one of the earliest ripe bayberry varieties in China and has good market prospects. 

Extra-early maturing bayberry fruit was originally found in Zhangzhou area, the fruit matured in mid-April, Yunnan, Guangdong, Guangxi planting can be about 20 days in advance than the original floating palace early-maturing varieties about 10 days earlier, for the past two or three years to breed excellent varieties. Fujian Longhai variety. This variety is weak and monoecious. The fruit was purple-red, with an average weight of 9.8 grams, a soluble solid content of 11.0%, and an edible rate of 94.0%. The meat is delicate and juicy, and the flavor is sweet and sour. 

"Early Ripe" is a different variety that is a variation of Extra Early.

This variety matures in May and June. The fruit is large and round, with a round and plump flesh column. The fruit color is deep red or purple red. The flesh is tender and crisp, rich in juice, and tastes sweet and slightly sour.
The average single fruit weight is 10 to 15 grams, the total acid is 0.65%, the soluble solids are 11.5%, and the edible rate is ≥93%. 

The leaves hide the bayberry, the crown is nearly round-headed, the main trunk is obvious, smooth, and the bark is grayish-black; The new shoots are greenish green, and the branch tips are at a medium angle of branching. The excellent single plant found in the wild bayberry forest of Jiudong Village, Taiping Town, Lingshan County, is a good variety bred by selective breeding. Leaves leathery, obovate-lanceolate, 4.1-5.7 cm long, 1.5-2.3 cm wide, leaf margins serrate, slightly curly; The flowers are monoecious, the female inflorescences are pale red, and each inflorescence has 4-15 flowers. Male inflorescences strip-shaped, each flower has 2 stamens, filaments white, anthers kidney-shaped; The fruiting mother branch is 4.0-8.5 cm long, and the number of leaves is 5-15; Each fruiting mother branch bears 1-4 fruits, mostly 1-2 seeds, and the young fruits are yellow and reddish in color; The fruit is round and spherical, with an average weight of 4.38 grams. It blooms in early to mid-February and matures from late April to early May. The peel is purple-black in color and evenly colored; The flesh is thick, crisp and juicy, with a soluble solids content of 11.5-12.6%. The edible rate was 89.2%; Sweet.
